Where everyone learns to learn…

Welcome to Rathfern Primary School, a community committed to developing effective learning.

Rathfern is a rich and diverse community where everyone is respected and valued. All of our actions, words and behaviours are underpinned by our Core Values:

  • Respect each other
  • Always do your best
  • Take responsibility
  • Help and care about each other
  • Everyone matters

At Rathfern we believe that all pupils must become effective learners to achieve highly. We are committed to identifying barriers to learning early and providing appropriate support so that all of our pupils achieve at least national expectations and beyond.

We are an aspirational school, committed to working with all our parents and carers to ensure the well-being and highest achievement of all our pupils.

What I love about learning at Rathfern…

  • I have learned football, hockey, basketball, table tennis and tennis at Rathfern; there's lots to do and you can always improve your skills. We are taught how to be good sportsmen.
Frankie, Year 5 - Dr Seuss Class
  • I like maths because it makes your brain work harder.
Charlie, Year 5 - Dr Seuss Class
  • At Rathfern our teacher encourages us to have our own ideas.
    Bethany, Levi Pinfold
  • I love learning how to play an instrument and when I see the choir, it encourages me to sing.
Michelle, Year 5 - Dr Seuss Class
  • I love that teachers have time to talk to you about what you've done right and wrong.
Faith, Year 5 - Dr Seuss Class
  • At Rathfern our teachers always set us challenging learning, but support us with examples and other activities.
    Zoe, Levi Pinfold
  • PE is the best because it makes us sweat and teaches us to be active!
