Sport Relief 2016 was great fun! We danced, sweated and raced our way to raising over £300 for children a lot less fortunate than us around the world. Thank you to everyone who wore their sports clothes to school and donated £1 to the charity.
To kick-start the day the whole school took part in our Sport Relief Warm-Up, which we had all been learning in our PE lessons. Following this, each class participated in a HIT (High Intensity Training) session, with circuit activities including bench steps, the plank, speed bounce, rope skipping and shuttle runs. The aim was to get our heartbeats racing, push our bodies hard and leave feeling physically exhausted – it worked!
Some children in KS2 gave up their lunchtime to complete the Sport Relief Mile with Miss Sophie. Feeling very determined the children managed to complete double the distance that was intended! What fantastic athletes we have at Rathfern!
After school a Parent vs Teacher football match was held. It was an exciting game that kept the crowd on their toes the whole time! At the last whistle we are pleased to say that it was the teachers that took the winning title. Better luck next time parents! A huge thanks to all that took part!
