On Monday 4th June, Rathfern attended the Primary Debate Mate Cup final day at Oxford University. Oxford is a breathtaking, unique place with stunning building and 44 colleges in its grounds. As soon as we arrived a former debater gave us a tour, and told us some weird and fun facts such as the library that has a copy of every book that has been published in the United Kingdom. Once we got inside, the motion was revealed ‘This house would make dinner halls serve only meat free meals’. We were proposition and had to agree with the motion. The debate went well and we won the first debate. After lunch we were given the second motion and had to battle it out with Elmhurst.
We were ranked 4th Nationally which we are very proud of and it has inspired us to work even harder and exceed our best for next year. Debate Mate has changed us for the better this year and we look forward to continuing next year.
