Over the last few weeks, we were lucky to have some headteachers visiting from South Africa. We got to ask them lots of questions about their rural schools and their lives. We learnt about Nelson Mandela and his work to overcome Apartheid.
As part of the visit, our visitors joined in with our Global Café. Edith Nesbit Gardens Class were lucky enough to participate in a Gumboot Dancing workshop. This is a traditional South African dance, performed by miners in their Gumboots (Wellington Boots).
Friendly Gardens class performed their Djembe piece that they have been working on with Remi. Our favourite bit was when the visitors joined in with Miss Keira’s dance group!
