Rathfern is working towards Unicef’s Rights Respecting Schools Award, putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the heart of our school’s planning, policies, practice and ethos.
Although we are at the beginning of this particular journey, Rathfern’s ethos and values have always focused on placing a moral purpose at the heart of the children’s learning and we will continue to develop a rich, positive learning culture across the school.
Becoming a Rights Respecting School will enable our children to become more globally aware and develop an even stronger sense of awareness and understanding of rights and relationships, not just of children but of everyone in the school and wider community.
To help us become a Rights Respecting School we have a group of children, staff, governors and members from the local community who meet once a fortnight to discuss and focus on particular issues. We call this group Leading Citizens.
