Year one have been enjoying their new topic ‘Teddy Bear Tales’. Our favourite teddies joined us today for a teddy bear picnic where we read to our cuddly friends and shared a snack. The children are very pleased that the teddy robber has returned our class bear after being reminded of our core values.
Year one went on a trip to Lewisham where we explored our local community. We wondered around the Temple and discussed the different statues. This week year one made story boxes using scenes from their favourite monster books. They have collaborated with their peers to create a scene for their very own monster story.
Welcome back from Year 1! Year 1 have been welcomed back to our new topic ‘Monster Madness’ They have produced some incredible home learning pieces and bought them in to show their classes.
Today the children received a postcard thanking them for their visit to Leeds Castle and complimenting them on their wonderful acting skills!
This week in year one we have been baking gingerbread men! We have been reading the traditional tale and using our gingerbread men to create our own stories. They were also very tasty.

This week in year one we have been planting our very own beanstalks! We have been looking at Jack and the Beanstalk and creating instructions on how to plant a beanstalk.
In year one we have been learning about our community and the people around us. We have made our own family portraits out of wooden frames and pictures. We used our learning attributes to help us put our best effort into the frames.
