During the latter part of the Autumn term, Brighton class were able to showcase their learning of the previous half term to their parents and carers during the WW2 class assembly.
In term one, the class texts were The Lion and the Unicorn by Shirley Hughes and The Silver Donkey by Sonya Harnett . Within various roles we were able to express what we learned, felt and understood through marching, singing, drama, poetry and our own diary entries to show our understanding of what it was like as Lennie (an evacuee , an agony aunt , a parent and Air Raid Precaution Warden.
In particular, the use of drama helped us to consider our moral questions for the topic and reflect on the value of the lives lost as well as the victory gained from the war.
