Rathfern celebrates Diwali

Diwali, which is one of the most significant festivals in Indian culture, coincides with Hindu New Year and is seen as a metaphor for self-improvement and as representing new beginnings. The ‘Festival of Lights’ involves a strong belief in giving to people in need, and is also traditionally a time for new clothes to be worn.

At Rathfern we celebrated Diwali in a range of creative ways from crafts and discussions, to expression through dance. Please take a moment to look through our gallery of images which feature how Diwali was celebrated across the school:

At Rathfern we stand together to condemn the unlawful murder of an innocent black man, George Floyd, in Minneapolis.

We stand united in our commitment to tackle and challenge racism, address inequality and call out discrimination.
