Florence Nightingale visits Reception

Wow, what a wonderful experience Reception had!  They were transported into the past to meet one of England’s most famous nurses – Florence Nightingale.

Florence came to visit the children in both Edinburgh and Carlisle class to share her amazing journey to become a nurse, and how she made a big contribution to change the way in which hospitals were run.  The children dressed up as nurses and soldiers during the Crimean War in Turkey and had the opportunity to do role-play. Florence herself was amazed at the knowledge and enthusiasm that the children had, and commented on this being her first experience of sharing her story with Reception children.

They thoroughly enjoyed their journey back in time!
