On Tuesday 9th February Colchester Class, along with some very kind parent volunteers, visited the Natural History Museum to explore the ‘Volcanoes and Earthquakes’ galleries and explore the earth’s galleries in further detail.
We discovered lots of rocks that we had already been learning about such as igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. One of the best parts of the trip was the hands on science investigation, where we pretended to be scientists for the day to examine specimens from all over the world!
We used a range of measuring tools to weigh the specimens and measure the length, which tied in nicely with our maths unit over the past few weeks! We even got to use magnifying glasses and visualisers to examine the specimens further. It was a fantastic day!
