Year 2 went back in time to 2 September 1666 in a theatre production of ‘The Great Fire of London.’ The children were greeted by Thomas Farriner and Samuel Pepys and embarked on a journey back in time to experience what life was like.
The Rainbow Theatre company helped the children to re-enact the night a tiny spark lit the dark in the bakery, on Pudding Lane.
The children had a range of props and lines to learn quickly as they applied their skills of focus, collaboration and effort to bring this historical event to life. As the raging flames spread across the city of London the children were able to experience and guide each other through the event as it unfolded. They also learnt some interesting new facts to add to their extensive knowledge.
