Dear parents and carers,
Given the current school closure, we have been working hard at adapting to the situation by delivering meaningful teaching and learning for pupils.
In the Summer term, pupils will be accessing their learning through Google Classroom– a digital learning platform created by Google.
As of the 20thApril, all learning will be set by teachers through the platform and pupils can complete their learning and submit it online to be responded to by school staff.
What is Google Classroom?
Google Classroom is a free application, created by Google, which allows teachers and students to communicate, and can be used to organise and manage learning and assignments. It forms part of G Suite for Education which is used in many secondary and further education settings as it enables distance learning. It has an uncomplicated and user-friendly interface that will help you manage learning at home at this challenging time.
What do you need to do?
This week, you will have received a letter with a unique login and password to access Google Classroom.
You will also have received a Google Classroom Support Pack. These can be viewed and downloaded by clicking on the links below:
- Google Classroom | Getting started– A step-by-step guide of how to use Google Classroom and submit learning.
- Google Classroom Pupil Use Agreement – An agreement that outlines the expectations of pupils when using the online learning platform.
- G Suite for Education Privacy Information – Explains specific privacy policy with regard to G Suite for Education and use by primary and secondary schools.
Please read these carefully in preparation for the launch on Monday 20th April.
Then, login on the 20th April for the first instalment of your child’s learning.
You should then check the platform daily to see if any new learning has been set for your child. Some pieces of learning will have a deadline for submission; children should be encouraged to complete the learning by the given dates.
If you encounter and difficulties, please contact your child’s class teacher.
We wish you a restful Easter break.
