Leading Citizens
At Rathfern we have leading citizens to encourage our young people to develop the knowledge, skills and values they need to engage with school and the wider world. We believe that we can all make a difference. A Leading Citizen is someone who is aware of and understands the wider world – and their place in it. They take an active role in their school community and work with others to make our school more peaceful, sustainable and fairer.
Rathfern Leading Citizens take pride in helping shape the school community to which they belong. Throughout the year, Leading Citizens are given many opportunities to take part in decision making, event planning and helping others within the school. The Leading Citizen meetings give our students formal opportunities to collaborate with their peers to create a dynamic engaging and inclusive school community. Students are elected – based on their potential, to show leadership and be model school citizens. Increasingly, Leading Citizens have a voice in decision making regarding school climate and culture.
Our Leading Citizens inspire and inform teachers and parents too and show young people that they have a voice. Leading Citizens make a positive difference - and help build a fairer, safer and more secure Rathfern for everyone.
