Beginning school is a very special milestone, and we are delighted that your child will be joining the Rathfern Primary community. We understand that starting Reception is an exciting time for children and families, and we are committed to ensuring a warm, positive and successful start for every pupil.

At Rathfern, we believe strong relationships between home and school help children flourish. Our dedicated Early Years team works closely with families to create a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive environment where children feel safe, confident and ready to learn. Through play-based learning, curiosity, creativity and kindness, our children develop the foundations they need for a lifelong love of learning.

On this page, you will find useful information to help you and your child prepare for their first steps at Rathfern. We also encourage you to read the Reception Induction Booklet, which provides practical guidance and an introduction to daily routines, expectations and support available for new families.
