Lunchtime is an important part of the day for our children. Ensuring that all children are well-fed and ready for the afternoon is fundamental to their learning progress.
The catering at Rathfern is provided by Chartwells, the leading provider of primary school meals in the United Kingdom.
All meals are freshly prepared daily on the premises, using locally-sourced produce wherever possible, to reduce carbon emissions and help protect our environment.
Meal Costs are £2.30 a day and £11.50 per week, this came into force from May 2019.
Spring term: 7th January – 14th February 2020 – 29 days = £66.70
24th February – 3rd April 2020 – 30 days = £69.00
Chartwells supports the Fairtrade Foundation, and all fruit and vegetable used are Fairtrade. They also ensure that fish comes from sustainable sources and well-managed fisheries.
Our senior meals supervisor works closely with the chef and kitchen staff to ensure that the provision is always of the highest standard and meet children’s dietary requirements. We encourage children to make healthy choices through providing a good selection of salad and vegetables to accompany their meal and offering fruit alongside their dessert.
